At Skin Cosmetics London, located in the tranquil surroundings of Pinner, UK, we are committed to bringing our clientele the very best in tattoo removal technology. We utilise the pioneering Picosure system, known for its revolutionary picosecond laser technology, providing an enhanced approach to tattoo removal. Unlike traditional methods which use longer pulse durations, our picosecond technology targets tattoo ink with incredibly short and powerful pulses. This results in the ink shattering into minuscule dust-like particles, enabling your body’s natural processes to more easily remove them. This method is vastly superior to older laser treatments that rely on nanosecond pulses, leading to fewer treatment sessions, increased safety, and superior results.

Moreover, the Picosure by Cynosure comes with a dual-wavelength feature, making it effective on a broader spectrum of tattoo ink colours, including those traditionally challenging to remove. Furthermore, this sophisticated technology minimises the risk of skin damage and results in less discomfort, ensuring our clients have a smoother, more comfortable experience. Skin Cosmetics London is at the forefront of integrating advanced technology with aesthetic medicine, providing a solution to those looking to remove their tattoos with the least possible discomfort and in the fewest sessions. Trust in our expertise at Skin Cosmetics London, where we transform tattoo regret into relief with our cutting-edge Cutera Enlighten III tattoo removal system.

Experience the ultimate solution to tattoo removal at Skin Cosmetics London, a leading aesthetics clinic in Pinner, UK, staffed by a highly trained team of doctors and aestheticians. Our clinic is equipped with the groundbreaking Picosure system – the gold standard in laser tattoo removal technology.

The Picosure utilises an advanced picosecond laser technology which emits ultra-short pulses to break down the tattoo ink into microscopic particles. These particles are then naturally eliminated by the body, leaving clear, ink-free skin behind. This innovative technology is capable of effectively removing all colours of tattoo ink, including stubborn blues, greens, and even previously treated tattoos that have shown resistance to other laser systems.

Our treatment process begins with a thorough consultation to understand your needs and expectations. Once a treatment plan is customised to your specific requirements, the Picosure’s dual-wavelength feature is applied to your tattoo, ensuring a targeted and comprehensive removal process.

The Picosure system is designed with your comfort and safety in mind, resulting in minimal discomfort and downtime. While the recovery time can vary depending on the individual and the complexity of the tattoo, most clients can expect to resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. Over a series of treatments, you will observe the tattoo gradually fade away, revealing the pristine skin beneath.

At Skin Cosmetics London, we strive for realistic results. Although the number of treatments varies depending on the tattoo’s size, colour, location, and your skin type, our highly skilled team is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcome for each client.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Laser tattoo removal, particularly when employing advanced picosecond laser technology like the Picosure system used at Skin Cosmetics London, works through a unique process known as photoacoustic effect or photomechanical impact.

The Picosure system emits ultra-short, high-energy pulses of light. These pulses, being in the picosecond range, are extraordinarily rapid and powerful. When they penetrate the skin and reach the tattoo ink particles, these particles absorb the energy. This rapid absorption causes the ink particles to undergo an instantaneous and extreme rate of thermal expansion.

However, the rapidity of the picosecond pulses leads to an interesting effect. Instead of simply heating and breaking down the ink particles, the ultra-fast expansion generates a powerful acoustic shock wave. This shock wave effectively shatters the ink particles into microscopically tiny fragments, a process more efficient than the thermal breakdown seen in traditional tattoo removal lasers.

Once fragmented, these minuscule ink particles are more easily recognised and processed by your body’s immune system. The immune cells work to gradually eliminate these tiny fragments from your body, resulting in the tattoo fading over a series of treatments.

The dual-wavelength capabilities of the Picosure system allow it to effectively target a broad range of tattoo ink colours, even those traditionally challenging to remove such as blues and greens. This makes the Picosure a superior choice for effective, safe, and comprehensive tattoo removal. The combination of picosecond technology and the photoacoustic effect results in fewer treatment sessions, reduced discomfort, and a lower risk of skin damage, making it the gold standard in tattoo removal technology.

    Introduction

    Why Cutera Enlighten III technology?

Picosure features shorter (750/660 picoseconds) pulse durations in one system. This functionality gives you efficient, effective removal of ink and pigment density. Also, Picosure offers a strong, non-thermal, photomechanical effect with high-peak power and the ultra-short pulse durations that shatter the targeted pigment without causing thermal damage to the tissue that surrounds it. This makes it an ideal solution for treatment of challenging skin and optimises our signature skin revitalisation treatment – Picosure Focus.

    Leveraging PICO  Pulses with Picosure
shorter pulse duration helps to safely and more intensely destroy ink particles = more complete and faster clearance is achieved.

    STEPS

    Treatment Step by Step

    Consultation & patch test

An initial consultation is always given to discuss your tattoo, what is involved in the treatment including downtime, realistic results & risks. Based on this consultation, we will then do a patch test which will ensure that we can monitor your response to treatment and safely prevent any adverse reactions. We will also provide you with full instructions & aftercare (this is done electronically, however printed copies are also available on request).

    image

    Treatment

Tattoo removal treatment uses a laser beam directly directly onto the areas of unwanted ink. a state-of-the-art cooling machine will blast cold air onto the area being treated to minimise discomfort as well as erythema & oedema.

    image

    After treatment

Once treatment is finished, we will apply a soothing aloe vera gel, antiseptic healing cream followed by a broad-spectrum SPF50 sunscreen. We will then cover the area with a bandage (depending on the individual case).

    image

    Aftercare & follow-up/subsequent sessions

Full aftercare instructions are given verbally as well as in writing via email. A follow-up session can be booked if a subsequent session hasn’t been booked in. However, generally tattoo removal requires a number of sessions to see good results. We recommend booking in at least a few tattoo sessions (an accurate number range of sessions required can be given by the practitioner at consultation). Before undergoing the next treatment, we would take pictures and compare with the previous sessions, also providing our feedback & advice based on individual results.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What wavelength of laser is used?

Picosure has emerged as the premier solution for laser tattoo removal. Featuring two unique laser wavelengths (532 &755nm), Picosure has the power to clear all ink colours, variable ink particle sizes and densities in fewer treatments.

Picosecond lasers, such as the Picosure system, represent a significant advancement in tattoo removal technology compared to traditional Q-switched YAG lasers.

The key difference lies in the pulse duration. Picosecond lasers emit light pulses that last a trillionth of a second (picosecond), while traditional Q-switched YAG lasers use pulses in the billionth of a second range (nanosecond). The shorter pulse duration of the picosecond laser leads to a more powerful photomechanical effect, often called the photoacoustic effect, as opposed to the predominantly photothermal effect of nanosecond lasers.

This photoacoustic effect causes the tattoo ink to shatter into microscopic particles, significantly smaller than those produced by Q-switched lasers. These smaller particles are more easily eliminated by the body’s immune system, making the tattoo removal process more efficient.

Furthermore, the Picosure system’s multiple-wavelength capabilities allow it to effectively target a wide range of tattoo ink colours. This feature makes it more versatile than many traditional Q-switched YAG lasers, which may struggle with certain colours, particularly brighter, more vibrant ones.

In terms of patient experience, picosecond lasers often require fewer treatment sessions to achieve the desired results. They can also cause less discomfort and carry a lower risk of side effects, such as skin discolouration, due to their targeted precision and reduced reliance on heat.

In conclusion, while Q-switched YAG lasers represented a significant milestone in tattoo removal when they were first introduced, the advent of picosecond technology, as embodied in the Picosure system, has further revolutionised the field, delivering faster, more complete results with greater comfort and safety.

The Picosure is an industry-leading choice for picosecond laser tattoo removal due to several distinctive features that set it apart from other picosecond lasers.

One of the standout features of the Picosure is its dual-wavelength capabilities. It can emit both 532 nm and 755 nm wavelengths, making it uniquely effective at removing a wide variety of tattoo colours, including stubborn blues and greens that are often challenging for other lasers to eliminate. This versatility enhances the overall effectiveness of the treatment, catering to a wide spectrum of individual client needs.

Furthermore, the Picosure utilises ultra-short picosecond pulses that can be adjusted to a slightly longer nanosecond duration. This unique feature allows for a more tailored approach, as the treatment can be customized based on the tattoo’s characteristics and the individual’s skin type.

Another distinguishing factor is the system’s high peak power and large spot sizes, which ensure that the laser energy is delivered deeply and uniformly into the skin. This leads to more efficient ink particle shattering and consequently fewer treatments, while also minimizing the risk of skin damage and discomfort.

Overall, the Picosure offers a superior combination of power, precision, and versatility. These attributes, when leveraged by the skilled professionals at Skin Cosmetics London, provide a tattoo removal experience that is both highly effective and comfortable, making it the optimal choice for clients seeking exceptional results.

One of the many benefits of the Picosure system for tattoo removal is the minimal downtime post-treatment. Most clients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following the procedure. However, it’s important to note that individual experiences may vary based on the specific treatment parameters and the body’s unique response to the treatment.

After a session, the treated area may exhibit some redness, swelling, or a slight whitening, but these effects typically subside within a few hours to a couple of days. It’s crucial to follow the aftercare instructions provided by your aesthetician at Skin Cosmetics London, such as avoiding sun exposure, keeping the area clean, and applying prescribed creams or ointments. These measures can help expedite the healing process and optimise results.

While the Picosure system is designed to minimise skin damage and discomfort, some individuals might experience temporary changes in skin texture or colour, blistering, or scabbing in the treated area. It’s important to avoid picking or scratching at the skin to prevent any potential scarring.

Always remember, your safety and comfort are our priority at Skin Cosmetics London. We will provide a comprehensive consultation to discuss what you can expect during and after the procedure, including realistic timelines for recovery and subsequent treatments to achieve the best possible results.

The Picosure tattoo removal system is designed to cater to a wide range of clients, making it suitable for most people seeking to remove unwanted tattoos. However, the effectiveness and safety of the treatment can depend on several factors.

In general, candidates for tattoo removal should be in good overall health, have realistic expectations about the results, and understand the procedure and post-treatment care. The Picosure system is effective on a broad spectrum of tattoo ink colours, including those traditionally difficult to remove, like blues, greens, and resistant colours, enhancing its suitability for diverse clientele.

However, there are some considerations. The treatment’s effectiveness can be influenced by the tattoo’s size, location, colour, and the depth of the ink in your skin, as well as your skin type and colour. The number of required treatment sessions can also vary based on these factors.

Although Picosure is designed to be safe for all skin types, certain skin conditions, immune system disorders, or medications could affect the treatment process or healing. Thus, a comprehensive consultation is crucial to assess your specific circumstances and ensure that the procedure is safe and effective for you.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women are usually advised to postpone laser tattoo removal. In addition, those with a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, or a propensity for hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, might need special consideration or alternative treatment options.

At Skin Cosmetics London, we are committed to providing the best care and results for our clients. We will conduct a thorough consultation to assess your eligibility for treatment and design a customised treatment plan that aligns with your specific needs and goals.

After a tattoo removal session with the Picosure system at Skin Cosmetics London, the treated area will likely exhibit immediate physical changes, indicative of the beginning of the ink removal process.

Initially, you may notice a temporary whitening or ‘frosting’ of the treated area. This is a common response and typically subsides within 15-30 minutes post-treatment. The treated area may also exhibit redness and swelling, much like a mild sunburn, and these effects usually resolve within a few hours to a few days.

In the days following treatment, the area might form a crust or a scab. It’s crucial not to pick or scratch this, as it’s part of the natural healing process. Blisters might also appear, especially in the case of coloured tattoos. These are also normal and will heal naturally over time.

Over the weeks following treatment, you can expect the tattoo to start fading. The ink particles that were shattered by the laser pulses are gradually eliminated by your body’s immune system, leading to a progressive lightening of the tattoo.

The exact pace of fading will depend on several factors, including the type, colour, and depth of the ink, the age and location of the tattoo, and individual health and lifestyle factors. It’s also important to remember that complete removal typically requires multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart.

Throughout the process, the team at Skin Cosmetics London will provide guidance on aftercare to facilitate healing and optimise results, while minimising any discomfort or potential side effects. We will also monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan as necessary to ensure the best possible outcome.

Laser tattoo removal is designed to be a permanent procedure. The Picosure system shatters the tattoo ink into tiny particles, which are then naturally processed and eliminated from the body by the immune system. Once these ink particles are removed from your skin, they do not return.

However, it’s important to remember that achieving complete removal or significant fading of a tattoo generally requires multiple treatment sessions, spaced several weeks apart. The exact number of sessions and duration of treatment depend on several factors, including the tattoo’s size, location, colour, and the depth of the ink in your skin, as well as your skin type and colour.

While the Picosure is a powerful and advanced system that is effective on a wide range of tattoo ink colours, some tattoos or certain colours may not be entirely removed, but they will typically show significant lightening.

Once the desired results are achieved, they are permanent. But bear in mind that new sun damage or changes in your skin condition can alter the appearance of the treated area. Therefore, proper skin care and sun protection are always advisable.

The team at Skin Cosmetics London will provide a comprehensive consultation to discuss what you can expect from the procedure, and provide guidance throughout your treatment journey to ensure you achieve the best possible outcome.
